INSTALLATION The wire connecting the SENSOR to the DEVICE must not run nearby the wires connecting INVERTER, MOTORS, CONTACTORS, power wires etc. They should be installed inside metal raceways connected to ground. When a shielded wire is applied, the shield shall have to be connected to ground at one side only. The connecting wires and the sensors must be separate from the sources of strong irradiated disturbances. Avoid mechanical work on the sensor. The sensors are qualified by the triggering distance (D). Ex.: E 309 / A 18-5, D = 5 mm At this distance steel A 37, and iron are detected, while for the non-ferrous metals (Al, brass) the triggering distance is halved, for copper it is reduced to 1/4. If near the “head” of the sensor other “metal parts” (such as other sensors, shields, walls etc.) are present, such “parts” must” be at a distance from the “head” of the sensor higher than 3D.
