TECHNICAL FEATURES AND REGULATIONS TRIGGERING SET POINT: 3 kohm fixed (voltage on the sensors 3V approx) fig. 2. RESET SET POINT: 1,5 kohm fixed. (voltage on the sensors 1,5V) fig. 2. SET POINT “SENSOR IN SHORT CIRCUIT”: 25 ohm fixed fig. 2. VOLTAGE pin 1-2 (without sensor) < 5V SENSOR CURRENT: <1mA VISUALIZATIONS ON GREEN LED : supply on A RED LED : internal relay changed over = 0 RED LED : sensor resistance <25ohm >> RED LED : sensor resistance >3kohm RESET Manual: the condition PTC=0 and PTC>> is recorded when the jumper link 8-9 is not made, and it is reset by closing for a short while 7 and 8 (telereset) or by pressing R on the front. The reset with the contact R takes place after pressing the push button for one sec approx. The reset with the front push button R is without delay. Automatic: the condition PTC >> and PTC=0 automatically resets when the jumper link 8-9 is made. MODE OF OPERATION The device may control from 1 to 9 sensors (fig.1). The sensor number is to be specified at the order. When the temperature of at least one of the sensors overcomes the triggering nominal value (VIN) the device changes over: The device changes over also in case of “sensor in short circuit” or “broken sensor”. The relay triggering delays of approx 1,5 sec in respect of each one of the two alarm conditions. Characteristics of the sensors The PTC sensors are featured by VIN (nominal triggering temperature), that is the temperature value in correspondence of which they increase the value of their resistance. Fig.5 shows the frame which must contain the curve R-T of each PTC sensor. Generally the PTC sensors are manufactured with VIN varying from 70°C to 180°C, with steps of 10°C. Fig.6 shows the frame which must contain the curve R-T of six PTC sensors in series. If the three sensors are equal, VIN value will be the same of the three sensors; if the three sensors have not the same VIN, the device triggers when at least one sensor overcomes its own VIN, regardless of what is happening for the other sensors. Therefore the device is able to perform a simultaneous control of many points at different temperatures
FUNCTION CT 15 detects the temperature increase in the motors (DC or AC) or in parts of machinery, by means of the PTC thermistor sensors (DIN 44081). As regards the motors, the sensors must be inserted into the windings and serial connected during the manufacture process. USE The device is normally used for direct thermal protection of electric motors. Any cause of temperature increase occurring in the places where the sensors have been located, will be detected by the device thus to achieve the motor protection from heavy starts, phase failure, over-load, several starts etc. The parts of automatic machines relevant for the temperature control are: ball bearings, oil, reduction gears, heating elements, etc. etc. Such parts can be put under diversified temperature control and require diversified nominal VIN values.
